Time To Save The Day

I was called on Saturday night to travel and get to Texas before Gustav did. Drop everything and run run run. Forget Puerto Rico, get to Texas ... JUST IN CASE! This is gonna be the mother of all storms ever. It will be the storm of the century (which is only eight years old). Puppies have rabies, babies are toxic and hairy frogs are falling from the sky and will put your eye out.

In reality, Gustav splashed Texas with a drizzle and a spit in one tiny area next to Louisiana. So for four days I have traveled up and down and sideways twice looking for something other than sunshine in Texas. Not that I'm complaining, Texas seems nice, but I wish there was more of a purpose to be here in order to validate the horrors and intensely screamed declarations made by the media and politicians. I have stayed at four different hotels in four nights. I am a refugee of the storm that never was.

We had satellite trucks and video contractors and media monitors and Public Information Officers and hundreds of others waiting and seeing and foaming at the mouth for disaster and mayhem so we could step in and be the heroes of the Republican Convention. Democrats still seem smug.
