Just A Couple Of Quickies

I've been pretty busy in a non-connected piece of America. Cell coverage is spotty to nonexistent, and I drive 20 minutes at 60 mph to get to a small grocery store for belly supplies. Sometimes I get my text messages the next day or occasionally 4-8 hours after they've been sent. Photos by phone is any one's guess. Lately my wireless Internet just turns off for 5 minutes every once in a while freezing up my screen and communications. When the technology fails, the ocean calls. I walk and plant myself in front of the continuous approach of the gulf's fringe under a sky brilliantly ablaze with stars I am just meeting for the first time. A dog still barks, but under the tones of coercive waves, the urgency dissolves, and the dog is OK with that. Me too.

In the grocery store I was listening to a local sing to his buddy with much glee. The happiness of the event captured me and I stole a closer listen. I didn't understand the words at first since they were being filtered through a set of missing teeth and a thick Texas cowboy twang, but the tune rose above the fractured notes and I recognized one of my favorites. I was surprised and pleased to know that the Spaghetti-O song still shared popularity amongst the happy time shoppers. This guy was even doing motions to the song. Nice interpretive dance! I hope I am that happy one day when my teeth fall out and I serenade a buddy with catchy jingles at a store!

A cat gave me a head nod today. In my world that means a bet has just been placed for a dollar. I nodded back not knowing what it was we were betting on but I figured, one, it was only for a dollar, and two, the cat didn't know where to find me if it needed to collect. On the other hand if I won, how could I take a buck from a cat anyway? Boy will my face be red if the cat had some kind of condition and wasn't betting me at all!

Every time you post, it reminds me that I'm glad we are friends.

I wonder what the cat was betting with you about? If you lose, s/he will come for you... be prepared. Cats are ruthless.
